CALENDAR OF EVENTS

  • 2ND SATURDAY FLEA MARKET - from March through November, look for bargains at our Flea and Farmers market in the City Park in downtown Altus.
  • SPRINGTIME GALA - first Saturday in May, this annual event offers great food, music, talent, contests, a variety of craft booths, family fun and more! Held in the City Park in downtown Altus.
  • JULY 4th CELEBRATION - from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., enjoy music, fun, the women's championship skillet-throw contest and sack races. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and stay for the fantastic fireworks show that is spectacular!
  • ALTUS GRAPE FEST - held the last weekend in July, this annual festival honors the grape growers and wine makers of the area. Celebrated by thousands of visitors including some foreign countries, this growing event is held in the downtown City Park. Local wineries have tasting booths in the park, and also offer free tours and tasting at their facilities. Championship Grape Stomp contests are held throughout the festival. This event starts at 5 p.m. Friday and ends at 11 p.m. on Saturday with street dances both evenings from 8 to 11 p.m.
  • LABOR DAY PICNIC - in September, starting at 5 p.m. on Labor Day, enjoy food, music, games and a Talent Contest in the Altus City Park. Enter to compete to win money or prizes for your talent performance.
  • CHATEAU AUX ARC - September 29th, 2007 - First annual WINEAUX (pronounced Wi (,) nos) Fest-live music and wine tasting.Free camping on site if wearing a toga!
  • WIEDERKEHR VILLAGE WEINFEST - Last weekend in September. Free admission, fun, food and music. Swiss cuisine, wine tasting, pony rides, tram rides through the vineyards, dancing and a wonderful dinner feast on Saturday night. Great fun for all!
  • AUTUMN FEST - this annual event held the 2nd Saturday in October brings thousands to the Altus City Park for food, crafts, great barbeque, games and contests, plus the Antique Car and Truck Show.
  • FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS - Catch the holiday spirit and round out the year from Thanksgiving to the New Year by visiting the brilliant display of beautifully decorated downtown business, homes and streets. Altus was voted the Most Beautiful Small Town Christmas Display. Also consider Midnight Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church on the mountain.

When you visit Altus, you will find a totally different way of life. It is magical and inspiring. So many things to see and do. Beautiful scenery, fun times and lots of grapes! When you stay in Altus you are near so many places to visit. Just a short jaunt to Magazine Mountain with its enchanting views of the Arkansas Valley from the southern vantage. From Magazine Mountain, you want the tranquility of the majestic Monastery of Subiaco with its long history of inspiration to the community. To the north there is White Rock Mountain with breathtaking walking trails and exquisite, thought provoking scenery and back to Altus for a lovely meal at one of its fine restaurants. Relaxed, satiated, and ready for a restful sleep, it is back to the Inn for a good nights slumber and prepare for another day of adventure!
